MMYPEM will provide support during the next months in the commissioning phase of 13 WARTSILA 18V50SG gas engines at the 250MW Sumbagut II Peaker gas plant located to the north of Sumatra (Indonesia).

The plant executed by the engineering company TSK in consortium with two local companies is designed to cover demand peaks of the provinces of Aceh and northern Sumatra, which have 18 million inhabitants together. This 250MW power plant will become the largest in the country with WARTSILA technology and the first to use its 50SG engines.

The project will feature up to thirteen Wärsilä 50 SG internal combustion engines of 19 MW each, powered by natural gas. These gas engines of the Finnish company Wärtsilä and Italian manufacturing are able to start and operate under full load continuously in just five minutes unlike traditional plants, such as combined cycles, where starting times are longer.

This assignment for support during the commissioning phase will be added to the long and successful list of works carried by MMYPEM in the area of commissioning, demonstrating a high degree of technical expertise in the development of large-scale energy projects.
