MMYPEM has placed an order for the assembly of equipment at the solar thermal power plant, in the Kathu Solar Park complex, in the Northern Cape region, South Africa, a project led by Liciastar (Pty) LTD (ACCIONA-SENER).
The plant, with 100 MW of power, uses the so-called Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology with parabolic trough and molten salt storage sensors. It will be able to supply electricity to 80,000 homes once it is operational.
Highlight that South Africa receives an average radiation of more than 2,500 hours of sunshine per year and the average daily rate is between 4.5 and 6.5 kWh / m2, so solar energy is one of the main pillars in the future energy supply system of the country.
