General Electric (GE) has relied on MMYPEM for the commissioning of Ashalim Plot-B Solar Thermal Power Plant in Israel, passing performance tests satisfactorily.
The project is a 121-megawatt solar complex that uses mirrors to focus the sun’s energy on the solar receivers on energy towers, where the electricity generated will be enough to supply 120,000 homes with clean energy.
The Ashalim plant located in Israel’s Negev desert will help increase Israel’s energy security by reducing dependence on fossil fuel imports. At the same time, it will avoid 110,000 tons per year of CO2 emissions, generating 10 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.
