MMYPEM participates in the project of the SOCAR Turkey Aegean Refinery (STAR) where it has been charged of the supervision of the rotating equipment. This refinery is located in Aliaga (Turkey) an industrial zone 50 kilometres north of the city of Izmir. It is the largest construction project in Turkey for the last 30 years and it will employ 1,100 people.
The SOCAR Turkey Aegean Refinery will be built on the Petkim Peninsula covering an area of 2,300 hectares, and will process an amount of some ten million tons per year of various types of crude oil. This refinery will allow Turkey to reduce its external deficit in petroleum products through the local production of naphtha, diesel, kerosene and LP.
