In 2001 and 2003, ENDESA relied on MMYPEM for the commissioning part of the last two groups at Los Guinchos Thermal Power Plant, located in the municipality of Breña Alta, in the eastern part of the island of La Palma.
The Los Guinchos Power Plant has an installed capacity of 108.5 MW and a 22 MW gas turbine and eight diesel groups.
The first three diesel groups, of 4.32 MW of power each, went into production in 1972, 1973 and 1975, respectively. The fourth diesel group, with 5.04 MW of power, was connected to the grid in 1980. In 1983, a group of 7.52 MW was added to the generation plant of the plant. Another group of the same power was connected in 1995. The last two groups, of 12.6 MW each, were put into operation in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
The plant has the ISO 14001 environmental management certificate granted by AENOR and that its activities are carried out in an environmentally friendly manner.
